Prince William’s House Permit Freeze

by DullesHomeGuy on January 26, 2010

Prince William County plans a home building permit freeze based on school overcrowding according to NewsChannel 8:

In an effort to ease the crowds, Stewart is proposing a new plan. He says he wants to put a moratorium on new housing until additional schools are built.

“It doesn’t mean we are not going to approve new developments,” he said. “It just means that before any housing permits are requested, that those schools are going to go on line before those are issued.”

(County Chairman) Stewart says the proposal will have incentives for developers, and adds that the plan will also speed up some of the school construction programs, including the construction of some schools that could open as soon as 2012.

NewsChannel 8’s Brianne Carter spoke to the school board chairman who says he supports the plan.
