Remember these critters?
In the early summer of 2004 they made their screeching selves known to neighborhoods in Northern Virginia with lots of mature trees.
As the novelty wore off, the sometimes piercing sound sent Arlington and Fairfax city area homeowners to hotels for just one good night’s sleep.
So many thousands fell from the trees, dying after the mating ritual, littering sidewalks and streets.
